Here is a list of info needed about many different breeds of frogs.

AFRICAN BULLFROG

  • RATING: Intermediate
  • FOOD: Butterworms, crickets, earthworms, goldfish and mice
  • WATER: Shallow water bowl
  • DAY TEMP: 80-86F (26.6 - 30 c)
  • NIGHT TEMP: Mid 70's (23.8 c)
  • LIGHTING : Heat lamp or fluorescent lighting 10 - 12 hours
  • SUBSTRATE: moisture holding substrate- potting soil or moss, Frogs will eat substrate small enough to fit in it's mouth.
  • NOTES: Burrows, doesn't move much- sit's in water or hole. 10+ gallon tank, secure lid, hollow rocks or logs, fake or live plants . Terrestrial, Lifespan: approx. 40 years, Sexual maturity approx. 8 years Males 9 - 10 inches, females 5 inches

BUDGETTS FROG

  • RATING: intermediate
  • FOOD: crickets, mealworms, earthworms, wax worms, butterworms, small grasshoppers, pinkies, small fish
  • WATER: Terrestrial terrarium- 1/3 shallow filtered water area
  • DAY TEMP: 75F (23.8 C)
  • NIGHT TEMP: 65 F (18.3 C)
  • LIGHTING: Incandescent and UVB fluorescent
  • SUBSTRATE: Gravel too large to ingest in water area; Potting soil and playground sand mix, leaves, orchid bark, cypress mulch in land area
  • NOTES: Terrestrial, needs well planted terrarium with 2/3 land and 1/3 water; 4.5 inches long, can be cannibalistic

CANYON TREE FROG

  • RATING: intermediate
  • FOOD: crickets, moths, mealworms, earthworms, wax worms, butterworms, small grasshoppers ...
  • WATER: fresh bowl of shallow water daily, misting
  • DAY TEMP: 75- 85 F (23.8 - 29.4 C)
  • NIGHT TEMP: 68 ( 20 C)
  • LIGHTING: Incandescent and UVB fluorescent
  • SUBSTRATE: Potting soil and playground sand mix, cypress mulch
  • NOTES: semi-terrestrial, terrarium may have some rocks for climbing as well as horizontal and vertical branches (bamboo), high humidity, well planted terrarium with a secure lid.

CARPENTER FROG

  • RATING: intermediate
  • FOOD: crickets, earth and red worms, waxworms, butterworms....
  • WATER: filtered, change 1 X week, 1/2 land, 1/2 water
  • DAY TEMP: 70 F (21 C)
  • NIGHT TEMP: 65 F (18.3 C)

  • SUBSTRATE: 50/50 water/land soil moss plants

CASCADE FROG

  • RATING: intermediate

  • WATER: 1/2 tank of water- filtered- change every 5 to 7 days, 1/2 land tank
  • DAY TEMP: 70 F (21 C)

  • SUBSTRATE: moisture retaining such as moss or potting soil
  • NOTES: Humidity 80%, terrestrial half land half water enclosure..

Leopard Frog

  • WATER: 6 " deep, filtered, tank should be half land
  • DAY TEMP: 77 F (25 c)
  • NIGHT TEMP: 60 F (15.5 c)

  • NOTES: 3 " long, terrestrial, hibernates 3 months of the year @ 37- 39F

MALAYAN PAINTED FROG

MANTELLA
